SGLT2i-QLD is a statewide audit of all patients who routinely took an SGLT2i prior to their operation, who presented for surgery between Jan 2018 and Dec 2020 to a digital public hospital in QLD. We will review SGLT2i cessation, pre/intra/post-op BSL and ketone monitoring, rates of euglycaemic DKA, and post-op infection rates.
This is a follow-up pilot project undertaken at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2019, which reviewed all patients on SGLT2i who presented for surgery in 2018, and found that patients who had their SGLT2i withheld appropriately had worse post-op glycaemic control (with no episodes of euglycaemic DKA identified) and worse post-op infection rates.
